RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) is a protocol that allows a Flash client to communicate with a server that supports RTMP, such as Red5. It allows for streaming video and audio to be sent or received by the Flash client, and also for additional functionality, such as remote procedure calls (both client-server and server-client).
